Newly-elected Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has suspended Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) board from its duties until controversies surrounding the firm are looked into.Speaking when he visited the company headquarters yesterday, the governor said he would issue further directions in seven days.

The move comes barely a week after the employees held a protest over the board’s decision to send on terminal leave managing director Eng Philip Gichuki and three other directors over planned privatization of the firm.

Governor Sonko assured employees that there will be no reshuffle in the company, but said contracts that have expired will not be renewed. “The water supply will continue despite these issues but on a rationing basis as it has been. Nothing will change until we are all settled at City Hall,” he said.

  1. Governor Mike Mbuvi said on August 18, 2017 that the Nairobi County will supply each home with large dust bins. The tweet added that these bins would be emptied weekly and rubbish/trush picked weekly! We appreciate this move by the new Nairobi Governor and welcome the process of making Nairobi the cleanest city in Africa.

When will this noble task and work start? We want to be part of making our city the cleanest and now wondering when will amazing task ahead of us!
